Mount Pleasant is one of the Charleston area’s most desirable communities, offering a blend of coastal beauty, modern conveniences, and a rich historic backdrop. Established in the late 17th century, the town grew from a collection of plantations and small settlements into a vibrant community that still preserves much of its Lowcountry heritage. The area is broken up into two sections: North and South of the Isle of Palms connector. MLS Area 41 encompasses the northern section, and MLS Area 42 encompasses the southern section. 

 

 

North Mount Pleasant offers a newer, more master-planned style of living. Development expanded here over the last two decades, resulting in modern neighborhoods with community amenities such as pools, walking trails, clubhouses, parks, and access to well-regarded golf courses. This area provides a bit more space, newer construction, and often larger neighborhood footprints. Some of the popular communities include Park West, Dunes West, Carolina Park, Rivertowne Country Club, Oyster Point, Charleston National, and Hamlin Plantation. Residents appreciate the suburban feel, excellent schools, and easy access to shopping centers like Oakland Market and Costco. Both areas are highly desirable, and choosing between the two often comes down to the type of neighborhood, Pricing, commute preferences, and the style of home a buyer is seeking.
